Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.
We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Jasen Gonzalez
CO-OWNER AND HEAD INSTRUCTOR
Jason is a Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt who was honored and grateful for working under Master Pedro Sauer and Rob Magao; he has more than 15 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
He received the Pedro Sauer Affiliate Black Belts, MMA, 10+ years of Youth JJ Coaching in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Women’s Self-Defense Seminars (Basic Self-Defense and Basic Self-Awareness).
During this time, he co-owned the Bushido Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Hebron before launching his Academy in 2021. Jason opened a more prominent academy in Vernon Rockville, Connecticut, with much success and a solid following from the Jiu-Jitsu Community.
Jason is a firm believer that focus and dedication to the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can make a difference in the way of life. He originally started BJJ to make his life more meaningful and healthy. Jason stopped smoking cigarettes, reduced his stress level, began building confidence through self-defense, and began feeling safe because he could protect himself and his loved ones. He introduced the art to his daughter (age 10) and his son, Jasen, at 8. Jasen went on to compete in tournaments and is now the co-owner of Gonzalez Grappling with his father.
Gonzalez Grappling is a family affair with his wife and daughter, who volunteers at the Academy and events as needed. And now his granddaughter is a delight when visiting the Academy. He also has a niece who has been training for the last couple of years.
